Worldwide

Medical Escort & Air

A medical escort is a qualified medical professional accompanying a patient during travel. Depending on the journey, providers may propose commercial-flight escorts, airline stretchers, private medical charters or dedicated air ambulances. These are different services, not interchangeable names for the same flight.

Useful for
Families comparing professional support during domestic or international travel, with flights and ground transfers where included.
What to confirm
Who accompanies the patient, the proposed transport method, provider assessment, airline or operating-carrier acceptance, and the complete journey price.

U.S. Medical Transportation

Non-emergency ground transportation within the United States. Depending on the request and provider, this may be seated transportation, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle or stretcher transport. Vehicle assistance does not automatically include a dedicated clinician.

Useful for
Medical appointments, dialysis, hospital discharge, facility transfers and recurring local or regional rides.
What to confirm
Vehicle fit, wheelchair or stretcher requirements, stairs, transfer assistance, waiting, return trips and payment terms.

U.S. Long-Distance Transport

Longer non-emergency ground journeys within one U.S. state or between states. The actual route and passenger requirements matter more than a fixed mileage label.

Useful for
Returning home from a distant hospital, moving closer to family, relocating between care settings or reaching an out-of-town appointment.
What to confirm
Door-to-door scope, crew and equipment, travel breaks, companions, stops, pickup timing and receiving arrangements.

Canada

Canada Medical Transportation

Non-emergency ground transportation within Canada, including seated, wheelchair and stretcher requests where an independent provider can offer the required service.

Useful for
Appointments, recurring treatment, hospital discharge and transfers between homes or care facilities.
What to confirm
The actual pickup and destination, vehicle and access needs, return arrangements, Canadian-dollar pricing where quoted, and provider availability.

Canada Long-Distance Transport

Longer ground transportation within Canada, including journeys between cities or provinces. Share both cities, the planned date and the passenger’s assistance needs so providers can review the complete journey.

Useful for
A distant facility transfer, returning home after treatment or a longer journey to be closer to family.
What to confirm
Whether the provider covers both endpoints, the full route, travel time arrangements, transfers, companions and any overnight or additional crew costs.

Cross-border

International & Cross-Border Ground

Ground patient transportation that crosses a national border. A provider may propose wheelchair, stretcher, private ambulance or other appropriate assisted ground transport, subject to its lawful scope and review.

Useful for
Cross-border hospital transfers, returning home from another country, and planned international ground journeys.
What to confirm
Border permissions and documents, the operating providers, handoffs, equipment, staffing, receiving arrangements and total journey costs.

Home & recovery

Discharge & Recovery Care

Support for leaving a hospital or surgery center and settling into recovery. A request can combine transportation home, help getting inside, caregiving, overnight support, recovery coordination or appropriately licensed nursing.

Useful for
People who need more than the vehicle ride alone, including practical help after arriving home or support following a procedure.
What to confirm
The tasks and hours included, transport versus at-home support, responsible-adult requirements, qualifications, pricing and who coordinates each part.
Explore Discharge & Recovery Care

A ride, a medical escort and home care are different.

A wheelchair or stretcher vehicle does not automatically include a dedicated medical professional. A medical escort accompanies the patient during travel. An air ambulance is different from an escort on a commercial flight. Recovery care covers agreed support after arrival and may be provided separately.

MedicalRide is a request and coordination platform. Independent providers deliver services. Providers and treating professionals assess clinical suitability; airlines and operating carriers confirm their requirements. For a medical emergency, contact local emergency services.
